LOCATION: 100 km. east of Hanoi on the Cua Cam River, one of the

main channels of the Red River Estuary.

DENSITY: Low tide less sand, 1000, at berths.

PILOTAGE: Compulsory for all foreign vessels and Vietnamese vessels

over 2,000 g.t. Pilot boats are painted buff with a red stripe and a yellow star.

Pilot Station: Southward semi-circle having radius of 1 n.m. centred on

position Lat. 20_ 40.0' N, Long. 106_ 51.0' E.

PRATIQUE: See ‘‘General –Pratique’’ before first Vietnam port.

VHF: Port Authority on Channel 16, working Channels 6 and 10.

BULK FACILITIES: Hoang Dieu Terminal: Berths No. 6, 7,

9 and 10 have moveable bagging machines. Berths No. 6 – 11 can also

STEVEDORES: Ordered through Agent.

Stevedores work throughout 24 hours in four shifts, 0000 – 0600,

0600 – 1200, 1200 – 1800, 1800 – 2400 hrs.

Loading or discharging rates are those stipulated by charter party or by

agreement between cargo owners and the stevedoring companies.

Hatches: Opened/closed by ship’s crew, or by stevedores if requested.

Cargo Gear: Cargo handled by ship’s cranes or by shore cranes. Use of

shore cranes must be requested in advance.
